Environment Canada has issued a warning for all of P.E.I. about the chance of an extended period of freezing rain starting early Tuesday.

By noon the temperatures might rise enough to convert the system to straight rain, but until then there is a good chance of ice everywhere.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery, said the warning issued early today, upgrading what had been a statement of possibility. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
“Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces,” said Environment Canada.

Tuesday should see the freezing rain continuing in the morning, with rain taking over in the afternoon.

The Confederation Bridge is currently open to all traffic, with no warnings.

FlyPEI shows all flights to and from Charlottetown are predicted to be on schedule.  Check the airport web site for updates.

On P.E.I. today, early morning temperatures ranged from a high of -2.3 at Stanhope, to a low of -8.8 at Maple Plains.
