The seven, ranging in age from 17 to 29, are part of a group called Live Different that has been touring Island schools doing motivational presentations. They lost all the clothes they had with them, their IDs and the rest of their personal belongings when the Wilmot Valley house they were staying in burned Saturday.

The Red Cross assisted them with emergency lodging, food, and other essentials. An eighth person, the owner of the house, was also displaced but his emergency needs are being taken care of through insurance.

The fire was reported around 8 a.m. Saturday at 716 MacMurdo Road, Route 120. Neighbours noticed smoke and flames on the structure and warned the people in the home, who escaped without injury.

The RCMP do not believe this fire is related to several others that took place Saturday and which are likely related to Halloween arsons.
