Update: Investigation continues after P.E.I. man killed in collision while walking near his home

FARMINGTON, P.E.I. - Police are awaiting the report of a collision re-constructionist into the death an elderly man struck by a vehicle while he was walking on the highway near his home in Farmington.

Kings District RCMP Cpl. Alexis Triantafillou says the length of time needed to complete the report “depends on the complexity of what was involved.’’

Triantafillou says an 81-year-old man was walking alone on the main Route 2 highway when he was struck and killed.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision took place near the man’s home, where he lived with his wife.

The vehicle was travelling west on Route 2 when the collision occurred. Route 2 was closed for an extended period of time.

Island EMS, St. Peters Fire Department, Kings District RCMP and the re-constructionist were on the scene.
