Tuesday was the second time in two years police were called to 96 Upper Prince St. to investigate a possible stabbing.
Police got a call around 1:30 p.m. about a fight underway.
A victim, age 21, was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious, but not life threatening, stab wounds.
A 20-year-old man from Stratford was arrested at the scene. He is now in jail facing charges of attempted murder.
He will appear in court later today for a hearing during which police will ask to have him stay in jail until his case in court comes to an end.
Both men are known to each other, according to police.
The Charlottetown Police Service’s major crime unit is investigating.
A young female resident in the building is unnerved by the incident in which she saw a woman who had blood smeared on her face and her arms talking to police.
Two years ago, the female resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, reported a stabbing to police at the same apartment building.
That 2015 incident resulted in Kyle Jason Dean Blaisdell being found not guilty on two counts of attempted murder after being deemed not criminally responsible.

The stabbing Tuesday delivered a second jolt to the female resident.
“A little uneasy, I guess, but that’s what you get for living in an apartment like this,’’ she says.
“It’s a cheaper apartment.”
Another female resident of the apartment building says she heard a man say: “I stabbed somebody. Call the police.’’
The resident, who also asked to remain anonymous, saw the man wander around before sitting on the grass near the building..
The woman says when police pulled up, the accused got down on his knees, put his hands on his head, and calmly gave himself up.
“He didn’t try to run away or anything,’’ she says.
“It was quite a sight.’’
A neighbour living near the apartment building commended police for being “very fast and very efficient’’ in arresting the accused without incident.
Still, the stabbing so close to home is not welcome.
“I don’t like it,’’ he says.
“It’s a nice, quiet residential area.’’
The man adds police are frequently called to the apartment building.
A resident of the apartment building only learned of the incident Wednesday when approached by The Guardian for comment.
“I’m quite surprised something like this would happen in this place,’’ says the man, who declined to give his name.
“Charlottetown is a peaceable place to live. My heart goes out to the victim.’’
