That was when the 70-year-old Summerside woman was greeted by a neigbour who, worried, rushed to her home to tell Gallant that a giant tree narrowly missed falling on her house.
“Around 5:30 p.m. I heard this big crash,” said Gallant. “I was talking to my daughter on the phone, so I told her I had to go out and see what was happening, and my next door neighbour was coming around the corner when he told me a giant tree had narrowly missed my house.”
She added, “I didn’t even know this until I saw him in my driveway,” Gallant continued, “It didn’t damage any of building, I don’t think.”
Terry Anstey was picking fallen branches off his power line Monday evening when he heard a loud crack and turned just in time to see the tree fall, brought down by high winds.
“I was worried it had landed on the house and she may have been hurt, so I ran over,” explained Anstey. “Luckily the tree had fallen in the space right between her house and shed. It really couldn’t have fallen in a better spot.
