TIGNISH

Mayor Allan McInnis says he’s really hoping two doctors to whom he recently provided a tour of Tignish and area will choose to open a practice in the West Prince town.

McInnis shared with his town council that the Irish doctors seemed impressed with what they saw, and he added, “I think they would fit in really well.”

A member of a newly formed committee that’s seeking to recruit and retain doctors in West Prince, McInnis said he’s made it clear to the committee that his focus is on finding a replacement for Dr. Declan Fox who is due to retire from his practice in Tignish next year. A tour of the health centre where Dr. Fox is based was part of the tour. They visited other local landmarks, too, like Tignish Fisheries, the Stompin’ Tom Centre and the Tignish Seniors Home Co-operative.
