SUMMERSIDE – Summerside Police Services is reminding the public to be mindful of what is left in vehicles, after a recent incident that left a window smashed and goods stolen.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, after about 6 p.m., a vehicle was broken into and a purse was stolen along with a quantity of cash.

The vehicle was parked in a parking lot on Water Street in the downtown area.

Police are investigating and asking for anyone with any information to call the Summerside Police Service at 902-432-1201.

As it is a common crime of opportunity at the holiday season, police say it is best to remove the opportunity to assist with prevention.

They recommend parking the vehicle in a well-lit area, not leaving valuables in the vehicle (if you do, use the trunk), rolling up the windows and locking car doors and keeping the key on your person.
