Tentative plans in the works to preserve Holman Homestead 

Some of the people involved in the effort to preserve the Holman Homestead said Friday that a solution may have presented itself.

No one would say more, citing the tentative nature of the information, but they did say they were hopeful a deal could be worked.

One of the oldest homes in Summerside, the Holman Homestead at 286 Fitzroy St., was built in 1854 as a Catholic parsonage and was eventually purchased by prominent Summerside businessman R.T. Holman. The home was owned by the Holman family for almost 100 years.

It’s latest owners, Kay and Russell Rogers, operated the Homestead Antiques and Gifts there between 2001 and 2013. The property has been on the market for about two years.

The Rogers have obtained a demolition permit for the home, but have stated they would rather see it sold to someone willing to preserve it.
