Police arrest impaired driver
Summerside police have arrest a 39-year-old man for impaired driving.
Shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, police saw a vehicle travelling on South Drive that had crossed the centre line several times.
The vehicle was pulled over and the driver, a Summerside man, showed signs of intoxication. A roadside test was administered. He failed.
The man was then arrested for impaired driving and later provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit.
He was released from custody but will appear in court at a later date to face an impaired driving charge.
Man remanded for several thefts
A 37-year old man is facing multiple charges of theft following brief chase and arrest by Summerside Police Service.
At around 11 a.m. on Friday morning, Summerside police received a call from a person reporting that their cellular phone and diaper bag were stolen from their vehicle while they were shopping.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Joseph Jesso.
Jesso was located shortly after and was arrested following a brief foot chase with police.
At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of stolen property from two Granville Street stores.
Jesso had already been wanted by police for another theft from a vehicle that occurred on Aug. 23.
He was charged with four counts of theft and remanded into custody until Sept. 4.
