Summerside business offering up its space to other entrepreneurs

Cassandra Noonan had two goals in mind when she started her own business, one was to support herself and her young family and the other was to help her community.

Everyday Clearance Centre at 465 Water Street in Summerside intends to, once per month, open its doors to a handful of other small local businesses so they can showcase their products and services. Store staff are, from left, Tracy Powers, Cassandra Noonan (owner) and Sharon Marshall.

Noonan opened Everyday Clearance Centre at 465 Water Street, Summerside, in April and currently employs three people, including herself.

Now that she’s been open a while, she’s getting ready to launch an event she’s had in mind since the beginning of her venture. She hopes it will become a monthly edition to her business.

“I want to bring the community up with me,” she said, regarding the idea.

Once per month Noonan plans to open space in her store, for free, to four other small business owners in the community.  These will usually be people whose operations are not big enough to warrant investing in their own storefront.

“It’s so costly to have retail space. But I can get them that exposure because of my location,” she said, referring to her high-traffic location in downtown Summerside.

“If I was in that position I’d appreciate it.”

Noonan is calling her events Summerside Business Mixers and is hosting the first one on June 20. She has already had four businesses take her up on the offer, including: 31 Bags, Plexus, Black Magik and Wendy’s Soap Shop.

Customers can come in from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to check out the businesses. Any other entrepreneurs who might like to take advantage of her offer can contact her at the store at 902-724-5058.

Noonan is also open to non-profit organizations doing some fundraising at the store during her mixers, so they can also feel free to contact her.
