TIGNISH
Comedian Jonny Harris’ visit to Tignish Prince Edward Island will kick off the fourth season of CBC’s hit series, Still Standing, on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The season premiere will air at 8 pm.
The series has Harris travelling the country to discover the hidden comedy in Canada’s struggling communities, and each episode celebrates the communities’ history and strength in the face of adversities past and present.
Harris and a film crew visited Tignish and area in April. The episode includes interviews with local folks, a description of the area and footage from a live show Harris hosted in Tignish.
A preview for the episode shows Harris interviewing Tignish resident Evelyn Bernard about hunting dew worms and writing a daily social media post.
The story explores how residents have long relied on each other and a seasonal economy to get by, and how they are counting on boosting tourism and diversifying the economy through such ventures as the Stompin’ Tom Centre in nearby Skinners Pond, and harvesting seaweed for livestock feed.
