Summerside police are investigating the incident, which occurred around 11 p.m.

Police say that a 19-year-old Charlottetown man and 17-year-old Prince County woman attended a St. Stephen Street residence and forced their way inside.

Once inside, the 17-year-old was demanding property for one of the residents.

A friend of the tenant of the residence was allegedly sprayed with a chemical irritant and the suspects made off with a cellular phone and a small amount of cash.

The incident was not reported to police until the following morning.

As a result, both parties were arrested and taken before a justice of the peace.

The 19-year-old man faces charges of robbery and wearing a disguise while committing an offence, while the woman is facing charges of robbery and assault with a weapon.

Both have been released on strict conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

The victims were not injured and did not seek medical attention.

Police say that the matter remains under investigation.
