More than three decades old, Kinkora Place is a multi-purpose facility that is used for a variety of functions.
Officials say staying modern and competitive is key to its prosperity.
The funding will come from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. The community will match the federal funding for a project total of $185,001.
Upgrades to the centre will include improvements to the air conditioning and heating system, roof and flooring repairs, new electronic signage, audio equipment, and a 600 square-foot addition to the building.
“When we match the federal investment for this project we can carry out some much-needed improvements to our centre,” said Pat Duffy, community council chairman. “We are very proud of Kinkora Place, it is a community gathering spot for all ages, and an impressive facility for social and business functions of almost any size.”
