MURRAY RIVER, P.E.I. – A vigilant neighbour and quick action by the Murray River Fire Department prevented the spread of a garage fire to the main house on a property Monday.
On Nov. 14 at 6:15 p.m., Kings District RCMP was called to the garage fire on Route 324 in the community of Peters Road.
A neighbour saw the fire and the Murray River Fire Department was quick to arrive. That likely saved the home next to the garage, said a report issued today by the RCMP. The garage was totally destroyed by the fire.

“There was some damage to the exterior of the home, but damage was kept to a minimum thanks to efforts by firefighters,” said the report.
The Fire Marshall has ruled that the likely cause was a wood stove that had been burning most of the day in the garage.
