Thursday’s bad weather resulted in the RCMP responding to eight collisions in a span of three hours.
Although most were what the RCMP described as minor, a 23-year-old woman from Souris died at the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Pleasant Valley.

The RCMP said the eight collisions that officers responded to around P.E.I. were between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday.
Most were described as minor crashes between two vehicles or cases of a vehicle sliding off the roadway.
The RCMP said weather and road conditions were likely factors in most of the crashes.
Other factors like motorists not adjusting their speed, following distances, stopping distances and steering inputs for the conditions also often contribute to collisions, the RCMP said.
Thursday’s collision in Pleasant Valley was the second fatal crash in P.E.I. in this week.
Melissa Ann Palmer died Tuesday after a crash the day before in Eldon when a delivery van and Palmer’s car collided on Route 1.

Palmer was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital before she was transported to Halifax where she died of her injuries.
The van driver was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
