The Mi’kmaq Confederacy of P.E.I. is putting new effort into revitalizing its charity golf tournament this September. All funds raised by the event will go to the P.E.I. Aboriginal Sports Circle, which helps kids from Island aboriginal communities participate in the local, regional and national events.
The event organizer, Ricky Knockwood, is inviting all interested golfers to Fox Meadow Golf Club in Stratford on Sept. 11. The cost per-team is $750, which includes tickets to the banquet and entertainment; tickets to just the show and food can be purchased for $50.
The tournament day will also include Mi’ikmaw cultural demonstrations, dancing, drumming, contests and prizes.
“We have received some great feedback from last year’s participants and we realize that we can make this a one of a kind experience,” said Knockwood, a golf club management student at Holland College.
Anyone interested in entering a team in the tournament can contact Knockwood at 902-569-6275.
