Gas stolen from Alberton Irving
On June 4 at 11:30 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a call from the Alberton Irving reporting two thefts of fuel over the weekend. Both thefts were for $35. Video surveillance shows the vehicle is a four-door brown Pontiac Sunfire. Police are looking to identify the driver.
Injured motorist charged with impaired driving
On June 4 at 11:45 a.m., West Prince RCMP attended the scene of a vehicle collision in Huntley where a vehicle was in the ditch. The 29-year-old male driver was being treated by paramedics and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver had to be transported to hospital and a blood sample demand was issued. The matter is still under investigation.
Man charged for impaired driving in Miscouche
On June 4 at 6 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Miscouche. The suspect vehicle was located and the 66-year-old male driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to attend court on July 19th.
Sea Cow Head lighthouse damaged
On June 6 at 8:30 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint that damage was done to the Sea Cow Head Lighthouse. Coast Guard was advised and members will be making extra patrols. Anyone having information about the damage to the lighthouse is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Two men found sleeping in car charged
On June 8 at 4:20 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked on Route 20 in Darnley. Upon patrol, Police noted two persons sleeping in the vehicle. The driver, a 22-year-old male, was awakened and issued a roadside screening device test, to which provided a fail result for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was served with a driving suspension and driving prohibition, and was later released with conditions to attend court in late August. The passenger to the vehicle, a 21-year-old male, was awakened and Police located marijuana on his property. He was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and is also due to appear in court in late August.
Man taken into police custody
On June 9 at 2:15 p.m., members of West Prince RCMP responded to a complaint of an aggressive male in Tignish. A 32-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Prince County Hospital where he remained for an evaluation period. He has been charged with uttering threats and mischief, and is due to appear in court in late July to answer to his charges.
Inverness fight leads to arrest
On June 9 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Members of East Prince RCMP responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male fighting at a residence in Inverness. An intoxicated 47-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Prince County Jail where he remained in custody overnight. He was charged with assault and released with conditions to remain away from the victim and the residence. He is due to appear in court in late July.
Backyard fire spreads to barn
On June 10 at approximately 12:40 a.m., the East Prince RCMP and the Borden-Carleton Fire Department attended a residence in Albany after receiving a complaint of a structure fire. Residents were having a backyard fire with friends when it spread to an abandoned barn, causing it to burn down.
Woman assaulted in Kildare Capes
On June 10 at 1:30 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of an injury to an 18-year-old female as a result of an assault at a house party in Kildare Capes. The female was allegedly struck with an object. She was transported to the Prince County Hospital for treatment. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle damaged in Lower Freetown
On June 5 a complaint of damage to a vehicle was received by the East Prince RCMP. The complainant reported that while the vehicle had been temporarily parked at a location in Lower Freetown between June 2 and 5, someone caused extensive damage to it. The investigation is continuing.
RCMP continuing traffic enforcement
During this past week, Prince District RCMP received 21 traffic-related complaints. These complaints mostly pertained to vehicles alleged to be driving erratically and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway. RCMP will be continuing to conduct checkpoints throughout June, in various communities across Prince District, targeting cell phone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
