Old Home Week kicks off in Charlottetown with the Mayor’s Annual Barbeque, which includes free food, entertainment, and a petting zoo.
The event takes place on the corner of Fitzroy Street and Great George Street on Friday, Aug. 12 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
During the barbeque, Fitzroy Street will be closed to motorists from Great George Street (formerly University Avenue) to the Fitzroy Parkade that is still accessible to motorists.
The annual event is designed to help launch and show support for Old Home Week, which has a rich history in the city.
Islanders and visitors have been enjoying the midway, livestock, and agricultural shows and competitions since 1888.
Old Home Week runs until Aug. 20.
