Travis MacDonald submitted the name Jade to a national contest to name the latest litter at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre.
There were almost 16,000 entries for this year’s contest, each one starting with the letter “J”. Travis submitted his suggestion for a puppy name along with his classmates from Kensington Elementary, which participates in the contest every year.
The other names chosen were: Jango, Jolt, Jorgia, Jude, Jix, Jett, Jax, Juno, Java, Jinx, Jazz and Jake.
In addition to naming his puppy Travis was also presented with an 8 x 10 photograph of Jade, a certificate and an RCMP baseball hat along with some playtime Cpl. Marc Periard and his canine partner Dutch.
