The CWL will meet at the Delta Prince Edward and P.E.I. Convention Centre Aug. 6-9.

Attending the event are four sisters from Borden-Carleton - Frances McCourt, Lorraine Noonan, Annie Noonan and Helena Hamill, who have more than 200 years of combined service in the CWL. Their families will also be attending.

“I joined because my mother (Mary Sherry) was involved and so were my four sisters,” said McCourt, 77, who became a member of the CWL in 1961. “But sadly, Mabel Carmichael, my older sister passed away, including my mother.”

McCourt is currently a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Cornwall and is the longest serving delegate of the parish.

“The first thing you always find is the sociability,” said McCourt. “When I joined the St. Francis parish in 1977, I became involved on the committee and was president twice. And we do a lot of things such as, donations, potlucks, day trips, devotions and mass.”

McCourt and her three sisters are excited for the event being hosted by the P.E.I. provincial council of the CWL, under the leadership of provincial president Irene Gallant.

“My family have been extremely active in the CWL, especially my older sister Mabel (who passed away),” said McCourt. “I have two daughter-in-laws, one in Toronto and one in Alberta that are also actively involved.”

The event will include a New Glasgow lobster supper, ceilidh by Treble with Girls, a celebratory dinner:  Canada, Our Dear Home with the Strathgartney Orchestra and Patrick Ledwell, several tours, and the grand finale of a Gala Banquet with the Confederation Centre of the Arts Young Players.

Opening and closing Masses will be held at St. Dunstan’s Basilica in Charlottetown.
