From left, Student Council President Cassie Murray, Valedictorian Molly Murphy, and Governor General’s Medal Winner Leah Craig, all raise their diplomas in triumph before the Kinkora Regional High School graduation ceremony began on Monday night.

“The best part of high school was feeling like a family, because you knew you were always accepted and cared about.”

Murphy was the valedictorian for the school’s graduation ceremony that took place Monday night.

In her speech she mentioned how the school is like a home, which allowed the students to find their authentic selves, and they have been through a lot together with losing classmates over the years.

Now that graduation is finally here, it’s flashing before her eyes, she said.

She will be attending Dalhousie University in the fall for the pre-vet program.

“I grew up on a farm, and I’ve always wanted to take care of animals.”

She’s grateful for KRHS because it shaped her into the student she is today, and will be able to carry that with her as she pursues her career.

Murphy said she and her classmates made it this far by supporting one another.

“I’m so happy to be here with them, but I’m going to be sad to leave them.”

She can’t imagine graduating from any other high school or accepting her diploma from anyone but principal Jaime Cole.

“I’m really happy that it can be at Kinkora because I love this place.”

Carter Hutcheson said he plans to follow in his mother’s footsteps to become a nurse.

“I want to work with the military as a nurse, and hopefully all over the world.”

Hutcheson said he’s excited to move on and obtain a career, but he will never forget all of the wonderful people.

“We’re a graduating class of 30 students. We really connected, and they became my close-knit family.”
