Lincoln MacKay of Kensington Elementary won the “Name the Puppy” contest that is held by the National RCMP Police Dog Service Training Center each year.
Lincoln is a Grade 4 student and was one of the winners. His winning suggested name was Griffin.
This year, the RCMP received over 9,000 entries and only 10 young Canadians had the opportunity to name a potential service dog. All names had to start with the letter G for 2014.
Marc Periard from P.E.I. RCMP Police Dog Service presented Lincoln with a certificate, a laminated photo of Griffin, a toy dog, and an RCMP baseball cap.
Periard, his police dog, Dutch, and Kensington officer Steve Manning put on a presentation for all of the Grade 4 students.
