John Frederick MacDonald, 71, died as a result of Tuesday’s single-vehicle crash near East Point, P.E.I.

The crash occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 6 along Route 16.

According to his death notice, MacDonald was a resident of North Lake. He is survived by his wife Anne MacDonald (nee MacPhee), daughter Johanna Field and two grandchildren, Lauren and Vivian.

He is also survived by siblings Gerald, Bernadette McInnis (Leo), Loretta Walsh (Leroy), Charlie (Helen), Victor (Debbie), Patricia MacDonald, Bernard and numerous nieces and nephews. MacDonald was predeceased by brother Leonard.

He will be resting at Dingwell Funeral Home with visiting hours on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:30 p.m. The Funeral mass will be held at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Donations in MacDonald’s memory can be made to the St. Columba restoration fund, or the Souris Hospital.
