A P.E.I. man who was found slumped behind the wheel in a field on Remembrance Day has received a $1,300 fine for impaired driving.
Chason Raymond Gauthier, 21, appeared recently before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown.
On Nov. 11, 2016, at around 5:30 p.m., Gauthier was located, following a complaint, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked by a Charlottetown ballpark.
He was slumped behind the wheel and showed significant signs of impairment.
Gauthier provided breath samples 2.5 times the legal limit and was lodged at the Provincial Correctional Facility for the night.
He had no prior criminal record.
In addition to the fine, Gauthier must pay $400 to the victims of crime fund and is prohibited from driving for 12 months.
