SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - A fundraising campaign has been launched by the Heritage Park Response Committee, which is made up of several community groups, to help provide financial assistance to the tenants of the mobile home park that faces impending closure this November.
Residents of Heritage Park in Summerside, located off Water Street East, gathered on Tuesday at the Credit Union Place and listened as Mayor Bill Martin, the Heritage Park Response Committee, and the Committee chairman Don Reid shared their progress.
“We’re thrilled with the response from the community, corporations and local business,” remarked Reid.
The Committee has been working on a GoFundMe campaign, pancake breakfasts, individual donations, service club donations and a gala dinner that will bring the campaign to a close at the Credit Union Place on Saturday, November 3.
“For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people’s love and concern for each other,” he continued.
The goal is to raise $100,000 to be split evenly between the 21 tenants to help with their moving costs.
The alliance hope to raise an additional $10,000 for expenses.
