The NOAA’s plane and crew initially spotted the whale, then contacted Fisheries and Oceans and provided supports from the air, while partners from the New England Aquarium, the Campobello Whale Research Team, the Canadian Whale Institute and Dalhousie University were on the research vessel also providing support.

The successful rescue follows three necropsies conducted on right whales after they were found last week.
