The Air Force Heritage Society is in charge of the fundraising project known as “Golf Ball Drop.” It’s taking place the day of the Air Show on August 22.

The golf balls will be dropped from a Cormorant helicopter at about 5 p.m. over the airfield area at Slemon Park.

The golf ball and its corresponding ticket number that is in or closest to the hole means $10,000 for the lucky ticket holder.

The second closest ball is a prize of $1,000.

After the drop, ten prizes of $100 and twenty prizes of $50 will be hand-drawn from all the ticket stubs.

Tickets are on sale at the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside and on the day of the Air Show until 4 p.m.

Tickets are $10 or three for $25.

All proceeds raised go to the development and support of the Air Force Aviation Park at Slemon Park.

Al Poirier is on the fundraising committee for the Air Force Heritage Society, and said it’s going to be quite the sight to see thousands of golf balls released from the helicopter.

“It’s going to be very exciting. We’re feeling like kids again.”
