The rally, set for March 24, at 6 p.m. will be in conjunction with CBC Presents: The National in Conversation with Peter Mansbridge in an attempt to raise awareness of significant policy decisions affecting Islanders with national newsmakers and their organizations.

In a release from the Georgetown Home and School Association and the Georgetown Strategic Advisory Group, they’re requesting the School Change Report be discarded and government call for a moratorium on all school closures as well as the reinstatement of elected school boards.

“The vitality of small rural communities is intricately tied to their social infrastructure. Economic development alone cannot ensure future growth and investment in small, rural communities,” read the release.
