SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. -- The Summerside fire department responded to a kitchen fire with five fire trucks and 40 firefighters at 91 Harvard Street on Thursday evening.
The call came in at approximately 6:43 p.m.
“Extensive damage has been done to the kitchen and the living quarters,” said Robert Irving, a captain with the Summerside fire department. He added, “There’s extensive smoke and heat damage.”
A second floor window was smashed by the crew to let the smoke and heat out the structure.
No one was hurt, but the family has been displaced.
The crew remained at the scene until it was safe to leave at 7:30 p.m.
