Dixie Lee, famous for its fried chicken, will return to P.E.I. in the spring of 2017.
The new franchise owner/operator, Major Stewart, said he’s excited to start construction of the new establishment, which will seat about 40 people and offer takeout. It will be located in a currently empty parking lot across the street from the Harbourfront Theatre, adjacent to the former Burger King property.
Dixie Lee, which was founded in Ontario in the 1960s, once had a presence in both Summerside and Charlottetown, but has not operated here for many years.
Construction of the new restaurant is scheduled to get underway soon.
