Needles found at Community Hall

On Sept. 11, at about 10 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a call from a caretaker at the Linkletter Community Hall, reporting that while cutting the grass he had found used needles on the property.  Police attended and removed the needles, arranging for them to be safely disposed of.

Break and enter reported in Kelvin Grove

On Sept. 14, East Prince RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter to a residence located in Kelvin Grove. The homeowner reported that an intruder had been overheard in the attached garage at about 8:45 p.m. the prior evening. The homeowner reported that the intruder had entered through an open garage door and had tried unsuccessfully to start an ATV that was parked inside, before fleeing minutes later. Nothing appeared to have been stolen or disturbed. The investigation is continuing.

Man charged with impaired driving

On Sept. 14, at about 8:15 p.m., while on patrol on Main Street in Alberton, a member of the West Prince RCMP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not display valid registration.  The driver displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the West Prince Detachment where he then provided breath test results that were over the legal limit. He was issued a driving prohibition and was issued three charges under the Highway Traffic Act, as well as charged under the Criminal Code for impaired driving.  He is due to appear in court in late October to answer to charges.

Break and enter reported in Northport

On Sept. 15, a report was made to the West Prince RCMP advising of a break and enter to a residential garage in Northport.  The homeowner reported that sometime between 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, someone entered his unlocked garage and stole several items, including a generator, two chainsaws, an electric grill and an air gun.  The investigation is continuing.   

Traffic enforcement ongoing

During this past week, Prince District RCMP received 14 traffic-related complaints.  These complaints mostly pertained to vehicles alleged to be driving erratically and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway. RCMP will be continuing to conduct checkpoints throughout the month of September, in various communities across Prince District, targeting cell phone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
