CAVENDISH, P.E.I. - Construction work on the parking lot and vehicle entrance at Green Gables Heritage Place will begin April 16.

The work is expected to continue until June 29, weather permitting. Access to parking for visitors will continue to be available during this time.

Parks Canada says it is upgrading these areas as part of a multi-year redevelopment project to improve infrastructure and enhance visitor experience at Green Gables Heritage Place.

As part of this work, the east entrance to the site will be closed and the west driveway will be widened and reconfigured to become the primary vehicle entrance/exit.

Parks Canada staff will be on-site in the parking area as of May 1 when the site opens for the season to direct visitors and to answer any questions.

During April, a Parks Canada staff member will meet ‎any special appointment visitors and lead them to the designated parking area from the bus parking area.

Visitors to Green Gables Heritage Place are advised to exercise caution, respect all on-site signage and closures and to follow instructions from on-site Parks Canada staff or contractors.

This work is part of a $3 billion investment over five years to support Parks Canada’s infrastructure work to heritage, tourism, waterway and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas across Canada.

Parks Canada will continue to provide updates on this project as work progresses and will notify the public when the work is complete.
