Christmas Day looks like a good day to stay inside.

A special weather statement has been issued for all of P.E.I. as a low pressure system is forecast to develop Sunday and intensify as it moves northeastward, impacting the province.

Snow ahead of the storm will spread across the province on Christmas Day starting in the afternoon and persisting into the evening. As the storm intensifies on Monday, winds will also strengthen and combined with the snow give reduced visibilities in blowing snow Monday night.

It still remains too early to give an indication of snowfall amounts but several long range models are indicating this winter storm will impact much of the province on Christmas Day.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the development of this storm and provide updates as new information becomes available.
