Roger James Jabbour, 65, is facing charges allegedly committed in 2012 and 2014.

His first appearance in provincial court in Charlottetown is scheduled for Oct. 12.

Jabbour is Colonel Gray High School’s band director and parents and students have been told he is on leave because of a health issue.

The Guardian contacted the Public Schools Branch about Jabbour’s status at the school.

Director Parker Grimmer said in all cases the Public Schools Branch can’t comment on individual human resources matters.

Grimmer wouldn’t say if the leave is related to an investigation of an allegation.

“We’re all about safety of our students and staff and when we get rare occurrences of any kind of an allegation we take these very seriously and investigate them fully,” Grimmer said.
