Summerside police are warning businesses of a so-called quick-change scam they believe was carried out by two men last weekend.

Police said the two men were in the city last Sunday, presenting large denomination bills to cashiers and asking for smaller bills in return.

The suspect may then change their mind and ask for a different denomination, attempting to confuse the cashier. This often results in the suspect giving less money back to the cashier, and pocketing the rest.

Summerside police believe the same two suspects were also in Charlottetown the same day, and may be travelling to various provinces and committing the scam.

Police do not believe the suspects are still in P.E.I., but are asking businesses to call police if they think their location has been targeted.

The matter is still under investigation and police will update as further information becomes available.
