Scott now has a family of his own, and through his ever-present love of music, he’s found a way to leave a legacy for his children.
That goal was recently achieved when Scott, the owner of Artist’s Ink Tattoo & Piercing, released his self-produced album “Earthquake” on July 29.
With a 1970s rock and roll inspired sound, strong vocals are incorporated with powerful bass, drums, and guitar.
“I thought it would be really cool that, at some point in time, they would be able to pop this on and go, ‘hey, my dad was pretty cool.’ I think it’s important for anybody to leave some kind of mark. Mine just happens to be rock and roll and tattoos.”
His oldest son, Vincent, 14, did some backup vocals, and his two-year-old daughter, Kyleigh, loves the album and recognizes his voice on all 12 songs.
Coincidentally, his youngest, seven-month-old Greyson Elvis, was born on the king of rock and roll’s 80th birthday.
The first run of 200 CDs sold out, and the songs are also available on download sites such as iTunes and Amazon.
Everyone is impressed and surprised, he said.
“People were expecting it to be good, but they weren’t expecting it to be that good.”
The project took about a year and a half, and he didn’t record the album with any preconceived ideas.
“Some of these songs have been rattling around in my head for 15 years. It was awesome to finally get them down onto tape and recorded well enough that I felt I did it justice.”
He’s proud of every song.
“I love ‘Blood Pudding.’ I love ‘Cosmic Hog.’ They’re all my babies.”
The common factor among all songs is the honesty that went into his lyrics, he said.
“I write about the things I believe in, and I happen to believe in rock and roll. There is something that’s very pure about listening to music you love, cranking it up, forgetting about everything else, and rocking out. It’s so therapeutic.”
His father showed him guitar chords at 10 years old, and he had some inspiration.
“I discovered Kiss and Alice Cooper when I was four, and Hendrix, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple when I was six. I was completely obsessed with rock and metal.”
His own album is generating attention on radio stations in Australia and New York, and he will be interviewed and reviewed in a United Kingdom magazine.
He’s rehearsing for fall gigs with Aaron Einfeld, and the two men who joined him on the album, Yves Arsenault and Stephane Bouchard.
Scott said the product of his dream has been rewarding and exciting because he’s always wanted to do this.
“It’s intensely satisfying. Tattoos and rock and roll just go together.”
