SUMMERSIDE – Another candidate has submitted their name for councillor of Ward 3: Summerside – North.
Barb Ramsay announced Monday her bid for the council seat that is currently occupied by Gordie Whitlock.
Ramsay, an employee with the provincial government for the past 30 years, has worked in both justice and health sectors as a youth worker with young offenders, youth addictions and mental health as well as a patient care worker and palliative care worker at Prince County Hospital in Summerside.
Ramsay grew up in Ward 3, a place she has returned to as a home owner and the area where she runs her business as a rental operator.
She has also worked as a coordinator on projects for the construction association and the federal government that focused on re-education and employment for displaced workers.
She says her priorities if elected to the ward include freezing electrical rates, securing affordable housing for seniors, affordable activities for families at Credit Union Place, affordable childcare, a sidewalk for Greenwood Drive, parent/youth awareness for the city’s drug crisis and quarterly meetings with Ward 3 residents to ensure she is bringing the right concerns back to council.
Ramsay will be campaigning in Ward 3 in the coming weeks.
Editor's note: This version corrects the name of Ward 3: Summerside – North. It was previously labelled as Summerside – North Drive which is incorrect. North Drive is in Ward 2.
