ATM stolen from Pownal Sports Centre early Monday morning

ALEXANDRA, P.E.I. — The RCMP are investigating the theft of an automated teller machine from the rink in Pownal early Monday morning.

Kings and Queens District officers responded to a call from a representative of the Pownal Sports Centre in Alexandra after he attended the rink shortly after 2:30 a.m. in response to an alarm.

There was no considerable damage to the building, as police said entry was gained through an unsecured door.

The RCMP's Forensic Identification Services along with the Police Dog Services also attended the scene.

The RCMP's Major Crime Unit has been investigating several ATM thefts across the Island recently and ask that anyone with information regarding these thefts to call P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
