The media has been invited to attend for a 1 p.m. press conference. No other details were provided.

A total of 121 people lost their jobs when the plant closed on Oct. 31, 2014.

The company blamed changes in the market for the decision.

McCain Foods did provide severance pay and funding for training and education upgrades for its P.E.I. workers and gave the province $2 million to help the community deal with the loss of such a major employer.

The company has been trying to find a buyer for the property since it wound down its operations. The province is also involved in the sale as the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission will have to make a recommendation to cabinet regarding the deal.
