ALBERTON
Alberton is the third and final stop on the P.E.I. Association of Newcomers to Canada DiverseCity Multicultural Festival and it’s all set for this Sunday, July 22.
Festival coordinator, Mark Carr-Rollitt says the event will feature non-stop entertainment from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. A street dance with a Caribbean vibe is set for 9 p.m. and the event concludes with a fireworks display at 10 p.m.
DiverseCity brings in the stage, booths and sound for the free festival. Main Street Alberton will be closed off to vehicular traffic between Church and Poplar Street intersections so that the party can proceed right on the street. This is the first time for the festival to be held wesst of Summerside.
Carr-Rollitt said there will be four food vendors on site enabling attendees to sample a variety of food choices including Chinese and Indian food.
Various ethno-cultural groups will have displays, and various performers, including Mi’Kmaq, Chinese, Acadian, Indian and Filipino, will entertain with music song and dance.
