SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - A crowd decked in emerald shades of green descended upon the College of Piping’s brand-new venue on Saturday evening to celebrate the wonders of Irish culture through high-spirited music and storytelling.

The event, A Green St. Patrick’s, kicked off with special guest Green leader Peter Bevan-Baker entertaining the audience with a comedic childhood story about growing up in rural Scotland and then attending a boarding school in England.

With the nod of his “wee” green leprechaun hat, award-winning Island folk acoustic singer and songwriter Catherine MacLellan then stepped onto the stage and strummed her guitar with heartfelt tunes.

The evening continued with storytelling and music by Catherine O’Brien, which tapped into Irish roots, along with the full-swing of the Green Party Band, before wrapping up shortly after 9 p.m.

All proceeds of the event go to support the Summerside Greens of Districts 21, 22 and 23.
