O’LEARY -- Troy Rennie demonstrated during the P.E.I. Potato Blossom Festival’s farmers’ banquet recently that he didn’t win the festival’s Potato Producer of the Year Award on his own.

 Bill MacKendrick second right, presents the P.E.I. Potato Blossom Festivals Potato Producer of the Year Award to Troy Rennie. Sharing the honour with him are Rennie’s sons Spencer, left, and Luke.

When the owner of Dock Corner Farmers was called forward to accept his award, he beckoned for his sons, Luke and Spencer to accompany him. Together, they grow about 500 acres of potatoes.

Troy Rennie, the youngest of five children, began farming with his farmer at a young age and has operated Dock Corner Farms since 1984, a mixed farm operation that also includes cereal crops and beef.His citation indicated he is known as a agood steward of the land and a quality  grower who strives to look for new advancements to grow his operation. He is also active on his church board and as a worship leader and is recognized for being community-minded.
