History enthusiast finds intriguing items while renovating Victoria home
VICTORIA-BY-THE-SEA - A newly purchased home has become a house full of treasures, as well as a little bit of mystery, for history enthusiast George Dalton.
The City of Summerside’s new solar farm is under construction and scheduled to be completed in September .
The solar energy farm at Credit Union Place in Summerside is starting to take shape.
About 90 per cent of the 1,544 solar panels scheduled to be installed at the farm are now in place.
The next phase of construction includes the carport section, which is a row of panels mounted high enough for vehicles to park under them. It is scheduled to start construction next week.
All the solar panels are expected to be installed by mid-August.
The second part of the project, an energy storage battery, is expected to be delivered and installed in early September. The battery, which is a Samsung SDI, is being built in China, then shipped to Wisconsin, U.S., where it will be outfitted for its intended purpose before it is transported to Summerside.
The city pays more than $380,000 annually to power Credit Union Place and the battery and solar panels are expected to save taxpayers a little more than $100,000 annually.
The project is a partnership between the City of Summerside and Samsung Renewable Energy Inc.
