DFO reports on fishing infractions

Four Prince Edward Island fishermen were issued fines after pleading guilty this year to fishing infractions, a Fisheries and Oceans Canada Gulf Region report outlines.

The cases were heard between January and May of this year.

Jamie Joseph Arsenault of Tignish was fined $1,300 for possessing female rock crab to bait his lobster traps; Marvin Donald Gavin of Anglo Tignish ad Scott Glen Gavin of Skinners Pond were each fined $1,000 for fishing lobster during a time when the fishery was closed and Brady J. Creed of Montague was fined $1,500 for fishing scallops when the fishery was closed.
