STURGEON – Hundreds and hundreds of people filled and stood outside the Catholic church here Tuesday to embrace the grieving family of two men shot to death last week.

The funeral of father and son, Brent and Brendon McGuigan, has “shattered” the community and Father Gerard Chaisson said it has left “broken hearts” across P.E.I. and across Canada

Calling it a very public tragedy, Father Chaisson called for mourners to pray for peace and an end to violence.

The two men, 68 and 39, were shot to death in a St. Mary’s Road home last Wednesday night in a bizarre murder.

RCMP has since laid first degree murder charges against a man who appears in Georgetown court Thursday.
