Florida man jailed for impaired driving

SUMMERSIDE – A 19-year- Fort Myers, Florida, man was sentenced to three days in jail after pleading guilty Thursday in Summerside provincial court to a charge of impaired driving.


Joseph Dylan Collatarci was stopped by on March 28 at 1:20 a.m. after police observed a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner.

A breathalyzer demand was made and Colatarci recordings of 130 and 120.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Jeff Lantz noted that Colatarci had no previous record and that the highest reading was well below the aggravating limit of 160 contained in the Criminal Code of Canada.

In addition to the jail term, Colatarci was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $300.

His driving privileges were suspended for 12 months.
