SUMMERSIDE – A former Kensington town councillor has announced he will he seeking the Summerside city councilor seat in Ward 5, Hillcrest-Platte River.
Greg Campbell served as chairman of the Water and Sewer Commission in Kensington during the late 1990s.
Campbell has since moved to Summerside and wants to resume his political career.
At 64, Campbell is an active senior and wants to ensure Summerside remains a senior-friendly municipality.
He recently graduated with honours in the Professional Home Inspection program at Ashworth College He has worked as a trainer with the Construction Association of P.E.I. and has provided training for youth at risk.
Over the last 14 years, Campbell has organized and produced a series of conferences for dairy farmers throughout the Maritime Provinces and organized industry conferences for potato farmers on P.E.I.
Campbell has officiated in fastball, baseball and hockey over the past 30 years and with his experience in sports hopes to attract more sports venues to Summerside.
His volunteer activities include serving on the national board of a mental health organization and on the board of Holland College.
“I have the time now to make a positive contribution to the city and I will do my best to represent the residents of Ward 5 if I am elected,” he said.
