ROSE VALLEY – A 19-year-old male driver is facing charges after striking another vehicle on Route 225 in Rose Valley.

According to RCMP, the man’s car was travelling east on a high rate of speed while going around a corner and lost control. He veered into the west-bound lane and side-swiped an oncoming vehicle. The second car avoided a head-on collision by veering onto the shoulder.

Neither driver was injured.

The 19-year-old was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after failing an approved screening device. He was later released and given a summary offence ticket.

Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair.

The RCMP would like to thank Island EMS and the Crapaud Fire Department for their assistance.
