Island man charged

CHARLOTTETOWN— A 47-year-old Charlottetown man faces dozens of charges following a lengthy bankruptcy investigation by the Island RCMP’s L Division Federal Investigations Unit. 

Donald Christopher Higgins has been charged with 15 counts under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act relating to obtaining credit by false representation; one count of obtaining credit more than $1,000 from a person without informing them that you are an undischarged bankrupt; and 32 Criminal Code charges including fraud and obtaining credit by false presentence or fraud.

The majority of these offences are alleged to have occurred in the Charlottetown area though there are also some offences alleged in Montague.

Higgins is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Georgetown today and again in provincial court in Charlottetown on Thursday, July 24, to answer to the charges.
