LENNOX ISLAND — An all-terrain vehicle accident Tuesday has resulted in an impaired driving arrest.

At about 1:05 a.m. Tuesday East Prince RCMP responded to a 911 call in Lennox Island that reported an accident involving an ATV.

A 25-year-old Lennox Island man was operating the ATV, lost control and was thrown from the vehicle.

He was treated at Prince County Hospital for his injuries and provided breath samples with alcohol concentrations over twice the legal limit.

The man was held in custody and will appear in court on Sept. 18 to face a charge under the Criminal Code of Canada for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol reading in excess of the legal limit.

RCMP are reminding the public that operating any recreational motor vehicle, such as an ATV or watercraft, can be extremely hazardous while consuming alcohol, noting that court penalties for such offences are severe and the same as operating a vehicle on the highway while impaired.
